5th October FE Workshop 4 8am with Steve Baker
Last Friday of every month at 8am live Behaviour Conversation with Paul Dix
The workshops/conversations will last for 60 minutes and are focused on:
1. Tricky Questions
A fascinating discussion on the key principles that frame Relational Practice and define its values. Do we give learners what they deserve or what they need? When they behave poorly are they challenging or distressed? Be ready to both share an opinion and question your own practice.
2. Relational Currency
The power of emotional currency. How to get it, what to do with it and when to spend it most effectively. This workshop is all about positive relationships, positive acknowledgement and noticing. The apparently small stuff has an incredible impact. Be ready to tell a story.
3. Consequences
What is the role of consequences in Relational Practice? From pep talks to restorative conversations, how do you land a consequence without damaging the trust you have built up with a learner? Are stepped consequences effective or exclusionary? Expect lively debate and be ready to make a plan for your consistent response
4. Tough Situations
Working with learners who experience crises during the day means you need a backup plan as well as an everyday plan. How should you react, what systems do you draw on and how can you help learners recover. Be ready to share what you have learned through the course and to pool some ideas.
These are workshops and not a series of talks. You will find yourself joining in and contributing.
We will record the workshops and put them here. If you can make it to the live session please do, I am sure you will get more out of it.
We look forward to meeting you in the first session.
